Learn about Burrell

Note: All services may not be available in all locations. Please call for specifics.

Our organization was founded as Youth Bridge in 1963 as Boyland in Winslow, Arkansas, by local businessmen to provide housing for homeless and neglected boys, and we have provided a stable resource for youth services over the years. Beginning as a small custodial-style facility for a limited number of boys, we stand now, more than 50 years later, as an organization that provides a variety of services for youth and adults in Northwest Arkansas.

In 2019, Youth Bridge merged with Springfield, Mo.-based Burrell Behavioral Health. Burrell brings 43 years of experience to The Natural State, specializing in collaborative services where YOU are a key stakeholder in your care. Burrell partners with schools, health care providers and local justice systems to treat the needs of youth AND adults at conveniently located clinics across our eight-county region. Now united under the Burrell name, we are so pleased to begin a new era of whole-person wellness in Northwest Arkansas.

Our Services

Youth and Adult Psychiatry

Burrell's psychiatry staff work with clients to manage symptoms through medication. They work closely with various members of the therapeutic team to make sure medications are working well for clients and that they are adjusted appropriately as symptoms shift for clients over time. Psychiatry services are available at most Burrell clinics. Sometimes appointments are made for an in-person consultation. Other appointments are scheduled through our telehealth program.

New Client Evaluation

Before starting in care with one of our psychiatrists each client goes through a new client evaluation. The appointment takes about an hour where you are interviewed by one of Burrell's trained evaluators. You should arrive thirty minutes prior to your evaluation so you can provide clinic staff with appropriate information.

Individual Therapy

Our Mental Health Professionals offer in-person and telehealth therapy services for adults and youth. Burrell offers therapy and counseling services in a collaborative setting so that care is connected for clients. We value the trust and respect of our clients and take a multidisciplinary approach where a diverse team of staff work together to collaborate on what is best for the families and individuals we serve.

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological Evaluations can be provided through multiple Burrell locations. Psychological tests are administered by doctoral level practitioners. These evaluations can test for the following: Attention Deficit Disorders (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders, Personality & Behavioral Disorders, and Emotional Disturbances. The practitioner can also provide Diagnostic Clarification and Social/Emotional Evaluations.

Group Therapy

Although most therapy sessions aim to help individuals gain a sense of ease, autonomy, and control over their lives, the goal of group therapy is slightly different from the goal of individual therapy. Group therapy is recommended as part of a larger therapeutic strategy to help encourage sharing, bonding, and coping. A number of options and locations are available for those interested in this service.

Family Therapy

Our Mental Health Professionals offer in-person and telehealth therapy services for families to nurture change and development. Sometimes talking to an expert, who can remain objective and provide sound advice and guidance, can be a great launching pad toward progress. We are trained and licensed to assist with a variety of issues facing today's families.

School-Based Services

We partner with area school districts to provide the best support to students, families and school faculty. School-Based Services are an innovative approach to providing rapid access to care in the school setting. We work directly with students, families and educators on-site and provide Mental Health Professionals and Qualified Behavioral Health Professionals within schools to offer individual and group services.

Youth Community-Based Services

In some cases a client's diagnosis may mean they need additional support to function at home, work or in the community. We understand the challenges that come into play for many of our clients so we provide support. The goal of this case management program is to support and equip clients with successful independent living skills. Clients must meet the criteria established for each program to participate in services.

Adult Community-Based Services

Adult Community Support Services focus on the complex needs of individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Qualified Behavioral Health Professionals provide specialized services to address mental health needs like poverty, connections to local treatment providers, and resources to stabilize the individual. We use a multi-disciplinary team approach that provides care and treatment in a community based setting.

Recovery Services

Burrell's comprehensive addiction recovery services are individualized because we know the process of recovery looks different for each person. Our philosophy is to develop the right treatment program that supports each person's unique recovery efforts.
