Benchmarks at Burrell: Be Well Retreat at the Lake

This training is open to professionals in the helping fields, as well as any community member experiencing burnout or compassion fatigue.

This introductory-level training will serve as a Be Well Experience, focusing on bringing brain health wellness to life in real-time, blending an instructional approach with evidence-based practices, such as self-assessment, mindfulness, meditation, and additional self-care strategies. Participating in this interactive experience will provide a much deserved opportunity to develop a greater capacity to regulate and serve, changing lives and brains for the better. This experience is designed for professionals in the helping fields experiencing burnout and compassion fatigue. Additionally, this event is open to any human experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue and/or navigating all that this time in history involves (i.e. ongoing global COVID-19 Pandemic, social injustice, political divisiveness and beyond).


Featured Speakers
Dr. Shelly Farnan,
a licensed clinical psychologist, is the Vice President, Be Well Initiatives, at Burrell Behavioral Health. Having served in a variety of settings, with various populations and with evidence-based treatments, Dr. Farnan specializes in Inclusion and wellness. She has a passion for developing relationships, raising awareness, and facilitating change. She believes in putting science into action so that we experience the health and wellness benefits and build resilience to carry us through all that life brings our way.

Dr. Karen Shipley has 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field, is dedicated to raising awareness and meaningful connection for those who receive services and those who provide services through a relational and trauma-informed approach. She divides her time between clinical practice, teaching, training and consulting internationally.

Bailey Pyle, MA, LPC, has 11 years of experience in the mental health field working with children, adolescents and families in schools, hospitals, outpatient treatment and the community. Bailey has been providing Be Well Experiences to the community and organizations since March 2020, helping others utilize creativity to find connection, growth and healing.

Location: Schaible Lake, behind Burrell's Main Campus (1300 E Bradford Pkwy, Springfield, MO 65804)
Cost: $50 for Burrell staff, $60 for community members (includes 5 CE credits, if applicable, and lunch)
CE credits: Full participation AND return of post-session survey earns 5 CE credits
