Crisis Counseling Program

Free services and resources available for COVID-19 worry, anxiety and stress.

The mission of the Crisis Counseling Program is to assist individuals and communities in recovering from the challenging effects of natural and human-caused disasters through the provision of community-based outreach and psychoeducational services. The CCP provides resources and information about stress management, coping skills, and other available services.

What is the Crisis Counseling Program?

The CCP is:

  • Funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
  • Requires a presidential declaration of disaster for individual assistance for short-term behavioral health support when disaster response needs are beyond a state's capacity
  • Administered through an interagency federal partnership between FEMA and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
  • Culturally competent, understanding, respectful, and sensitive to the cultural makeup of communities served

Burrell Behavioral Health has partnered with Springfield-Greene County Park Board, the Missouri Show-Me Hope Crisis Counseling Program and Stay Positive Arkansas to host "Stress Recess," a series of virtual events hosted on Zoom. Stress Recess allows our community to connect with one another and take a break from the everyday stress we may be feeling. We will come together once a month to participate in light-hearted, fun activities while also providing educational resources about self-care and how to take care of ourselves during the pandemic.

Our next event, Let's Paws, will take place on Tuesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. Join us and our special guests from Pet Therapy of the Ozarks for an hour of dog tricks, interactive games, raffle prizes, wellness tips, and connection to local resources. You will not want to miss out on the fun and engagement as we celebrate National Pet Month and Mental Health Month!
