Group Therapy

Group meetings can be a very effective part of the therapy process. Whether it is learning that you aren't alone or getting the chance to practice skills, group therapy may help establish healthy patterns for you or or a loved one.

Group Therapy Overview

Although most therapy sessions aim to help individuals gain a sense of ease, autonomy, and control over their lives, the goal of group therapy is slightly different from the goal of individual therapy. Group therapy is recommended as part of a larger therapeutic strategy to help encourage sharing, bonding, and coping.

Burrell is still providing COVID-focused telephonic group sessions, which are open to our community.

Coping With COVID Education Sessions

Factual information on COVID-19 will be provided as well as information on how to take care of yourself, how to stay socially connected during a time of physical distancing, mental hygiene tips and techniques and tips on how to best support those you may be caring for.

THE GROUP APPROACH

Sometimes it is easier to find connection and understanding with another person who has had similar experiences than with a family member, a friend, or even a counselor. It is often helpful for individuals in the early stages of coping with a particular problem, whether it be grief, an illness, or even addiction, to meet another person who has endured similar circumstances but who has experienced personal growth and therapeutic success.
